Toast me tender

Durant ce mois d’Octobre, j’avais besoin de reprendre les aiguilles mais pour tricoter un modèle simple et rapide, un modèle que je puisse tricoter devant la télé et terminer très rapidement tout en utilisant de la laine de mon stock. Je me suis alors rappelé d’un de mes coups de coeur, un modèle qui était dans ma « queue list » depuis si longtemps que je l’avais presque oublié…

During October, I wanted to knit an easy and really quickly project, something that I could knit while watching the TV, finish in a couple of days in using some yarns from my stash. Then I remembered one of my « Love at first sight » project who was in my queue list for so long now that I had completely forget about it…

Entre les « Toast » et les « Toasty », je préfére la version sans pouce, plus libre et facile à porter. Ni une, ni deux, je fouille dans mon stash et je trouve 2 pelotes de Online Linie 144 Gala couleur gris clair qui seront parfaites pour ce projet !

N’ayant pas d’aiguilles en 4,5 mm, je les ai tricoté en 4mm. J’ai fait quelques petites modifications au patron originale car je les voulais un peu lâche.

Between the « Toast » and the « Toasty » version, I rather the one without the thumb, more free and easier to wear. So I look into my stash and find this 2 balls of Online Linie 144 Gala in light gray who would be perfect for this project !

It happened that I didn’t have any US 07 needles so I knitted it with US 06 instead but then I had to do some little modifications to the original pattern in order to get some loose arms warmer.

Voici mes modifications :

J’ai monté 38 mailles en utilisant la méthode du Twisted German Cast On. Je suis assez fan de cette méthode car elle permet d’avoir un bord très net et très élastique parfait pour des mitaines ou des chaussettes !

J’ai ensuite fait 6 augmentations au rang 52 : *Tricoter 6 mailles, faire une augmentation*, répéter 5 fois puis tricoter les 2 mailles restantes. Il y a maintenant 44 mailles sur les aiguilles.

J’ai tricoté 100 rangs et rabattu les mailles souplement en utilisant la méthode suivante : Tricoté 2 mailles à l’envers ensemble puis passer la maille tricotée sur l’aiguille de gauche, recommencer jusqu’à la fin.

Here’s my modifications :

Cast On 38 stitches using Twisted German Cast On method. I really love this technique because it’s allowed you to get a really stretchy and clean edge, really useful for mittens or socks !

I made a 6 stitches increased at row 52 : *K6, M1* repeat 5 more times then K2.

There is now 44 stitches on the needles.

I knitted until row 100 then I bind off loosely : *P2 then slip the knitted stitch on the left needle*, repeat until the end.

 

Un véritable bonheur à tricoter et me voilà prête à affronter le froid ! Cette laine est vraiment agréable à tricoter et à porter. Je me demande encore pourquoi j’ai mis autant de temps avant de me décider à les faire !

Et vous, vous êtes plutôt « Toast » ou « Toasty » ?

A real pleasant knitting project and here I am, ready to face the cold ! This yarn is really lovely to knit and comfortable to wear. I’m still wondering why it took me so long to decide to make them !
