A vos aiguilles !

Drops Desgin #126-5 Circle Dance Drops Delight - Olive Rust Plum 11 Drop Fabel - White #100 Needle US 2½ - 3.0mm Some time ago, I’ve knitted this Fair Island mitten. A very attractive design from Drops wich I really loved to do. Except maybe for one thing, once I ended the left hand, I realized that this design was too small for my hands. A little bit narrow but enough to not feel at ease and make me doubt about the necessity of knitting the right hand. So what about now ? Should I knit the right hand, knowing that I never could wear this mittens ? Or should I pass to another project, leaving this mitt without its half ?

When I first saw this sweater, my heart did go BOOM ! I wanted it so badly ! This is a moment after that I realised that it was a kidsilk sweater, well this is also because he’s made of kidsilk that my heart did go boom after all ! This is the second time this year that I’m knitting a Kim Hargreaves pattern. No doubt about it, I love this designer for the simplicity and elegance of her creations. I’ve been looking for the same sweater on Ravelry and there is 2 things that I’ve noticed. This garnment is quite tight and really short. So after many days to think about it, I’ve decided to knit a size up (L for me instead of M) and to add length about 6 cm (12 rows). I’ve used about 5 skeins of Drops Kidsilk bought to L’Atelier de la création during the event L’Aiguille en Fête. I have to confess one thing, I was really scared to run out of yarn specially because I’ve added some length but even then, I had enough yarn left ! The yarn is helded in double and I used circular needle with one end 4mm needle and the other 9mm so i can go back and forth on the same cable. This stitch is great because this is a really fast knit if you’re working on it a little bit every day, I’m sure you can even finish it in one week (without counting the sewing part of course). The bad point about it is the 2 different size of needle can be really disturbing. The only real difficulty about this sweater is the sewing part but this is because of the mohair, this fiber does not help to see the right stitch to sew. At least, I’m thinking about this because I don’t like to sew, this is looooooooong ! Smoulder by Kim Hargreaves Size L instead of the M Yarn held in double 6 Skeins of Drops Kidsilk found to L'atelier de la creation, Paris Colour # 24 Petrol Needle 4 mm - 4.5mm - 8mm & 9mm / Us 6 - 7 - 11 & 13 About 1090 yards used - 996 m (5 skeins)

Vous l’aurez compris, je parle bien sûre du : ♦♦♦♦♦ I really think this cowl is so far my favorite one. This is just the third time that I knit it and still with with such pleasure ! Of course, I’m talking about : « Burberry Inspired Cowl » by Julianne Smith Skill Level : ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ J’avais offert les deux autres mais celui-ci, je me le garde ! ♦♦♦♦♦ I’ve offered the two others but I really wanted one to myself ! I’ve used a little bit less than 2.5 skeins of Drops Népal, colour light beige. I have to confess that when I saw this colour, I’ve just fell in love at the first sight ! Look this little powder effect, I had to buy it to knit this cowl ! Plus, I really needed a light colour to get ready for the spring. ♦♦♦♦♦ I love this simplicity, this technical side but not too much, just enough to not be bored and I do love the fact that it’s unisex. My man got one and he loves it ! I didn’t make any modification this time, I’ve cast-on 58 stitches using provisional cast-on method with needles US 10 and made 4 repeats of the pattern. I’ve used the Kitchener stitch technical to sew the col but you can of course cast on and sew it in a « normal way ». ♦♦♦♦♦ Well, one thing is sure, this cowl is so warm and cosy, really perfect fot this spring so cold that we have now ! Do you have a favorite pattern too ?
